Center for Chilean Animal Law Studies CEDA Chile

Working Towards a Brighter Future for Non-Human Animals

Who We Are

The Center for Chilean Animal Law Studies or "CEDA Chile" (which stands for "Centro de Estudios de Derecho Animal" in spanish), is a Chilean non-profit that serves as a platform for discussion and generation of legal studies regarding Animals and their treatment conferred by the Chilean legal system.

Here at CEDA, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all by contributing to the dogmatic and scientific development of Animal Law in Chile. By fulfilling this, we expect to help to improve the conditions in which we interact with non-human animals, tending to cultural conceptions that allow their liberation from human subjugation.

Our decision making process is informed by the current gaps and needs present in the Chilean legal system, and by those issues that are endemic in our society. We aspire to design innovative strategies, approaches, and legal solutions through the use of classic legal institutions and other nonspecific remedies that can be directly or indirectly used for contributing to animal welfare.

We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact on all of our pursuits. We are open to collaborate with other institutions and professionals while aiming to create a better world for all living beings, especially those who can't speak.

I saw a muskrat come out of a hole in the ice ... While I am looking at him, I am thinking what he is thinking of me. He is a different sort of man, that's all."
